Selecting an office chair

The style of office chair that’s best for you will depend on how long you spend sitting at a desk each day, the style of desk you opt for, and how much space you have. If you’re putting in many hours a day, our Evesham office chair is a brilliant choice. It’s shaped for comfort and has a padded seat and back that are supportive, along with comfortable armrests. On castors, it can be moved in and out of position easily. It looks great used with our Rochester desk, allowing you to create a spacious home office set-up. If your work sees you using a smaller desk or console table, consider one of our dining chairs such as the Evesham carver chair or Portland dining chair as a partner. They are space-efficient choices, and, as ever, upholstery and paint colour are up to you to choose allowing you to complement the rest of the room’s interior. You might like to think about a stool if space is short and you move around your home with a laptop. Our stools can be tucked neatly away under furniture when they’re not in use, and they’ll encourage you to maintain good posture while you’re seated.

Customising an office chair with fabric

Select from both plain and patterned fabrics for an office chair. Either type can look fabulous and will help make your chair part of your home. If you’re tempted by pattern and prefer a more tailored look, consider stripes, or go for a geometric. If you work from a bedroom, or your chair is part of a living area, you might prefer to give it a prettier look with a floral print. You can specify floral fabrics when you’re searching our fabric collection, and look at the options within a particular colour group as well if you’re already sure about this. You can also search all our checks and stripes, or the selection of patterned fabrics as a whole, or view by colour. Upholstering your office chair in a plain fabric is a great alternative to bringing in pattern. Think about picking up a shade that’s already part of the room to ensure the space works as a whole. This colour might feature as part of a patterned curtain or blind fabric, for example, or be taken from other upholstered furniture in the room.

Kit out a home office

Home offices can have anything from the most minimal of requirements to the necessity for generous desk space and plenty of storage. An office chair and a desk surface could be all the furniture you need, depending on the type of work you’re going to be doing from home. If so, consider a chair that could be used at the dining table for extra guests, or at the dressing table in the bedroom, as your office chair. A console table or drawer table could be a great desk choice, too, as it will be a handsome addition to any room. For a complete office set up, plan in storage, as well as a larger desk surface. You’ll find pedestal desks with built-in storage in our selection, along with corner desks that make the most of the room you have available. You can also maximise space for paperwork with desktop shelves as well as freestanding filing cabinets, chests of drawers and wall storage.
